Leighton was my best friend since I was 14 years old. I am not saying I was his, as he was so close to so many others. But he was mine. We did our GCSEs and A-Levels together, interviewed for the same universities together, studied the same subject, applied for the same jobs. But more importantly we talked and talked, for 30 years. He was the funniest, warmest, and most erudite person I have known. Good God he was particular. But that was his charm. And he loved his family very much, Anne, Dessie, and Emma, as do we all. My thoughts are with you. Never forget how much we loved your son and brother. Leighton my friend, how I have lived, loved and laughed with you.
